Austin, Texas (October 1, 2008) - The Seton Family of Hospitals has joined 11 area healthcare organizations and Austin's Public Broadcasting Service affiliate KLRU in supporting the collaborative campaign, "Critical Condition: Central Texas." The group has been working since June to raise awareness about the lack of affordable health insurance in Central Texas.

This collaboration was prompted by KLRU's Sept. 30 broadcast of Critical Condition, a national documentary from the award-winning PBS series P.O.V. which explores the nation's growing healthcare crisis. The documentary puts a human face on the consequences of an increasingly expensive and inaccessible U.S. healthcare system.

Last week, KLRU began airing two-minute vignettes about Central Texans who have required medical care while not covered by health insurance. Three of the five television clips feature Seton patients or their family members.

For more information about the documentary, the vignettes and Seton's participation in the collaboration, visit www.klru.org.
