Inpatient Services at Shoal Creek Hospital

Child & Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Program

Seton Shoal Creek Hospital’s Child & Adolescent Program offers an inpatient program for patients up to 18 years old who exhibit emotional and behavioral problems due to mental illness and/or substance abuse. Our interdisciplinary treatment team helps stabilize patients who require a controlled environment for healing and growth. We work with the whole family to identify and help manage behavioral and psychiatric issues. Our team of experts — independent psychiatrists, specially trained nursing staff, and licensed social workers — works with patients and their families to determine a treatment plan. After achieving stabilization patients may continue treatment through participation in one of our outpatient programs.

The Seton Shoal Creek Child & Adolescent Inpatient Program includes:

  • Medical evaluation
  • Medication assessment and management
  • Treatment planning
  • Recreation, art, and music therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Insight-oriented group therapy
  • Family therapy by physician order
  • Educational programming to keep patients current with schoolwork
  • 24-hour staff presence
  • Discharge planning and aftercare referrals/recommendations

The program also includes education about medication, psychiatric disorders, and parenting for patients and their families.
