Inpatient Services at Shoal Creek Hospital

Inpatient Alcohol/Chemical Dependency Detoxification Programs

Seton Shoal Creek Hospital offers two adult inpatient detoxification programs for patients 18 years and older. Medical stabilization is the primary goal of our Adult Chemical Dependency Detoxification Inpatient Program, while the Dual Recovery Inpatient component is designed specifically for patients with a mental illness and a dependency. Our team of experts, along with patients and their families, determines a treatment plan. The team includes an independent psychiatrist, a nurse, and a licensed social worker — all dedicated to patient health. After patients achieve stabilization we offer a variety of outpatient treatment programs to help them continue their healing.

Adult Chemical Dependency Detoxification Inpatient Program

In conjunction with an outpatient program, the Adult Chemical Dependency Detoxification Inpatient Program includes:

  • Medical evaluation
  • Medical stabilization and detoxification
  • Treatment planning
  • 12-step work and group therapy
  • Relapse-prevention planning
  • Improvement of essential coping skills
  • Building of communication skills
  • Family-focused programming
  • Chemical dependency education
  • Health and wellness education
  • Random drug screens
  • Discharge planning and aftercare

Adult Dual Recovery Inpatient Program: Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Detoxification

The Adult Dual Recovery Inpatient Program is designed for adults who are diagnosed with both a mental illness and a chemical dependency. This program addresses each condition separately using a cognitive behavioral approach to treat mental illness as well as help patients recover from a chemical dependency. In addition to some of the program components listed under the Chemical Dependency Detoxification Inpatient Program, the Dual Recovery Inpatient Program will:

  • Increase knowledge about mental illness and chemical dependency
  • Identify, challenge and help modify unhealthy thoughts and beliefs
  • Teach problem solving and coping skills
  • Work to change dysfunctional or destructive behavior patterns
